After undergoing a hair transplant, proper care and attention towards washing and grooming your hair are crucial for optimal results and to ensure the best possible healing process. In the first few days post-surgery, it’s important to follow your surgeon’s specific instructions, as they are tailored to your individual case. Generally, it is advised to wait at least 48 to 72 hours before washing your hair to avoid disturbing the newly transplanted grafts.

When you start washing your hair, use a gentle, mild shampoo that your surgeon recommends or approves. It’s crucial to wash your hair with a delicately low water pressure and to avoid any vigorous rubbing or massaging on the scalp. Instead, lightly pour the shampoo mixture over your head, allowing it to gently run over the scalp before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

Pat your hair dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing it. Allow it to air-dry.

For grooming, avoid any products containing harsh chemicals or alcohol, and refrain from using a hairdryer on a high setting, as excessive heat can harm the sensitive scalp. It’s also best to avoid combing your hair too soon; when you do, be gentle and use a wide-toothed comb.

Following these guidelines will support the healing process and encourage the health and growth of the new hair grafts.
