Although obesity surgery may seem like the end of a problem for many people, it is actually the beginning of the real solution process. This surgery opens the doors to a new era in a person’s life. After this surgery, the individual opens his/her eyes to a new life because his/her eating style and the follow-up of his/her nutrition reshapes everything. In summary, this surgery is not the solution to the individual’s problem, but the first step towards a healthy life.

After surgery, the stomach is usually very sensitive for the first few days. During this period, it is best to consume light liquids such as water, broth, sugar-free compotes and sugar-free gelatin. No matter how light they are, they should be used frequently but in small amounts.

From the second week onwards, the diet becomes pureed. Choose boiled and easily digestible vegetables, yogurt, pureed meat or chicken, protein-rich but low-fat options. In addition, every bite should be chewed slowly but well to avoid upsetting the stomach, and the habit of eating quickly should be abandoned.

From the end of the first month, solid foods can be consumed gradually. However, since stomach sensitivity persists during this period, it is necessary to stop eating when the person feels full. Fiber vegetables, grilled protein sources and whole grains are the main food types to be preferred.

Absorption of some vitamins and minerals may decrease after surgery. Therefore, supplements such as B12, iron, calcium and vitamin D are recommended by the doctor.
